What Are LUME Retreats?

The name LUME draws inspiration from the loom: a structure through which distinct threads are brought together to create something integrated, purposeful, and whole. In much the same way, LUME Retreats bring together complementary dimensions of well-being, recognizing that health is not shaped by a single practice, but by the relationship between how we nourish, move, rest, breathe, and engage with ourselves and the world around us.

LUME offers a deliberate pause from the pace and habitual patterns of everyday life. By creating distance from familiar routines and demands, the retreat environment provides an opportunity to slow down, restore, and cultivate greater awareness of the conditions that support physical, psychological, and emotional well-being.

At the foundation of the LUME approach are holistic nutrition and the philosophical and embodied traditions of yoga. Nutrition considers not simply what we eat, but how nourishment supports energy, physiological function, resilience, and long-term health. Yogic practice draws upon an ancient and evolving body of knowledge encompassing movement, breath, attention, contemplation, and the cultivation of greater equanimity.

These two disciplines form the foundational threads of the LUME experience. Rather than treating them as separate approaches, we explore the ways in which they can inform and reinforce one another. Woven together with rest, movement, time in nature, meaningful connection, and periods of quiet, they create a more integrated framework for understanding and supporting well-being.

The intention of LUME is not simply to provide a temporary retreat from daily life. It is to create space for inquiry, restoration, and learning—and to offer practices and perspectives that remain relevant after the retreat has ended.

We are LUME.
